The FS4 display driver included herewith is
(C) Copyright 1990, BAO, Ltd.
Introduction:
This is a 800x600x16 color Super VGA driver which
will run only on the Video Seven 1024i graphics
card by Headland Technology. We are told it will
work on Fastwrite cards with 512K of memory, and
newer versions of the VRAM VGA with 512K, but no
other card known to BAO, Ltd. Buy yourself a 1024i
(with 512K of memory)!
To run this software, copy the three files:
v7.gra
v7hsens
v7h.f6h
into the subdirectory containing Flight Simulator V4,
then type:
fs4 x
at the DOS prompt. Using the startup menus, you will
notice that a new listing has been added to the "What
display are you using?" menu. It reads:
VGA 800x600x16 Video Seven 1024i
Select this driver, then continue as before with FS4.
User Notes:
Users will note that because there are over twice as
many dots written for each frame displayed using this
driver (simply by virtue of its higher resolution),
one cannot expect the same frame update rate that may
have been achieved previously on lower resolution
drivers. There are a number of alternatives:
- Use / Buy a faster machine
- Reduce the size of the main 3d window
- be content with the high resolution
instrument panel
- go back to using another display driver
Instrument Panel:
The instrument panel included with this driver is a
peek at the future of Flight Simulator. Not all
features displayed are manipulable by the core software
at this time, but may be in the not-too-distant future.
Mouse support is complete.
Feedback to Hugo Feugen at BAO will be much appreciated.
